It doesn't give, might be said... number 10 hook, knit cord that here, in Neuquén, is sold at hardware stores. I've seen them hanging at some craft fair stalls, very proud of themselves --the bags, I mean--, because of the beauty of their simplicity, so I decided to embark on this project for my Eldest Love to carry her college stuff.
I stitched chain base with the measure of legal size paper and with tight single crochet, but by the fourth round I gave up, as the bag to be was a heavy and hard to handle. So I frogged it and started over, so stubborn I am that I can crash into a wall even when people yell 'Careful!'.
This time I loosened the gauge and yay!, it started getting better, til I got to the size it has in the picture above (a little further than half-way through). Right there I decided to move to a more comfortable spot of the house... and the frustration... it must weigh more than 2 pounds. If I finish it and give it to the girl, she might hit me with the bag and kill me or, at least, leave me with a nice big lump, let me say...
